NORMAN – The University of Oklahoma men's and women's cross country teams begin their 2023 season this Friday at the Cowboy Preview in Stillwater, Okla.
The meet, set to be held at the Greiner Family OSU Cross Country Course, will feature a 5k men's race and a 3k women's race. The Sooners will compete 10 women's runners and seven on the men's side.
The OU women's squad enters the 2023 season with experience, returning 11 runners from the 2022 roster and a No. 14 ranking in the USTFCCAA Midwest Region preseason poll. The men's team returns five runners from last season and welcomed four new additions to the squad.
The women's team looks to build off a strong finish to their 2022 season after placing 13th at the NCAA Midwest Cross Country Regional. Of 230 runners, five Sooners placed within the top 100 and sophomore
Erin O'Brien led the way with a 48th-place finish. The team captured fifth place at the Big 12 Championships, its best finish in seven years.
