NORMAN – The Oklahoma women's tennis team makes the program's 11
th NCAA tournament appearance on Friday as the Sooners open with USC at 9 a.m. CT at the Gainesville Regional.
The Oklahoma women's tennis team has earned its second NCAA tournament bid in the last two years the event has been held and the second time under head coach
Audra Cohen. OU heads to the Gainesville Regional hosted by the University of Florida as the No. 2 seed in the region and will face third-seeded USC in the opening round.
Should OU advance, the Sooners will face the winner between top seed Florida and Siena in the second round which will take place Saturday, May 8, at 3 p.m. CT. The winner of each region will punch its ticket to the NCAA Team Championships, conducted May 16-28 at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla.
NCAA History
The Sooners have made 11 NCAA tournament appearances in program history: 1996, 1997, 1998, 2003, 2004, 2010, 2011, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2019. Oklahoma owns a 6-11 all-time record in NCAA tournament matches.
OU squads have advanced past the first round five times in program history: 1996, 2004, 2011, 2014, 2015 and 2019. No Oklahoma team has ever moved past the second round.
OU vs. The Field
The Sooners have met USC twice in program history, most recently in 2018 at ITA Kickoff Weekend. OU is 0-2 all-time against the Trojans.
OU is 0-3 against Florida. The last meeting between the teams was in January 2020, also at ITA Kickoff Weekend, where the Sooners took the Gators to the wire 4-3. OU won the doubles point thanks to wins from current doubles teams Carmen and

Camila Romero and
Martina Capurro on court three. Two OU players grabbed singles wins, including current Sooner
Carmen Corley who defeated then-No. 96 Victoria Emma 6-2, 6-3, for her first career ranked win.
The Sooners have never met Siena.

OU is ranked No. 22 in both the latest ITA team rankings and the Tennis Channel / USTA College Tennis Top 25.
In doubles, Carmen and
Ivana Corley are No. 23. The duo is 16-2 overall and 6-0 against ranked opponents this season and earned an automatic bid to the 2021 NCAA Doubles Championships by virtue of being the highest-ranked team in the Big 12 Conference.
Freshman
Dana Guzman is No. 63 nationally. Guzman has made a quick impact since her arrival in January, going 18-2 in singles with a 13-1 mark at the No. 2 position. No. 64
Carmen Corley has been a staple at the No. 1 position, where she is 12-6 with four wins over ranked opponents. No. 83
Ivana Corley is 13-6 on the year with a 11-5 mark on court three.
No Trouble in Doubles
OU is 18-3 in doubles points this season and has not dropped a doubles point in nine matches headed into the NCAA tournament.
Playing the entire year at No. 1, Carmen and
Ivana Corley have racked up a 16-2 overall record with an impressive 6-0 mark against ranked opponents. The duo went 6-1 against the Big 12 conference.
Camila Romero and
Martina Capurro are 7-3 on the year at the No. 2 line and went 4-1 against the Big 12. The senior duo is 48-10 as a pair from the fall of 2018 to present for a .828 win percentage.
Dana Guzman and
Kianah Motosono have compiled a 10-2 record at the No. 3 line this season with a 5-1 mark against Big 12 opponents. The pair has clinched six doubles points for the Sooners and has given up three matches or fewer in nine of their wins.
Sister, Sister
Sisters Carmen and
Ivana Corley have established themselves as one of the premier doubles teams in the country and earned an automatic bid to the 2021 NCAA Doubles Championships as the highest ranked team in the Big 12 (No. 18 at the time of selection).
The duo reached a program-high No. 11 in the March 30 doubles rankings. Since Carmen joined the OU roster in January 2020, the sisters are 36-3.
The Corleys are the second OU doubles team to crack the ITA top 15 under head coach

Oleksandra Korashvili were ranked No. 12 in 2020.
The duo is 16-2 in dual matches this year with a 6-0 mark against nationally ranked opponents. The duo has defeated the No. 22, 50, 45, 55, 30 and 17 teams in the nation this season and carries a nine-match winning streak into the tournament.
Dominant Dana
Freshman
Dana Guzman (Arequipa, Peru) made a quick impact after arriving at OU in January. The freshman leads the team in singles wins at 18-2 overall, playing primarily at the No. 2 line.
Guzman went 7-1 against the Big 12 conference playing at the No. 2 spot. She has won her last eight matches consecutively entering the NCAA tournament. Her 17 regular season wins tie Texas' Charlotte Chavatipon for the most regular season singles victories by a Big 12 player this year. Both players are freshmen.
Fifteen of Guzman's 18 wins have come in straight sets. The freshman has only played four three-set matches and won three of them.
