No. 8 Oklahoma Rolls Past South Carolina in Shutout Victory

March 27, 2026 | Women's Tennis

NORMAN – The No. 8 Oklahoma women's tennis team extended its winning streak to eight matches with a 4-0 sweep of No. 27 South Carolina on Friday evening at the Headington Family Tennis Center.

Oklahoma (18-4, 8-2 SEC) worked quickly in doubles, earning its 20th doubles point of the season and continuing an incredible 95% clinch rate on the season. At the No. 2 position, the No. 30 freshman duo of Evialina Laskevich and Edda Mamedova cruised to a 6-1 victory over South Carolina's Taylor Goetz and Kaitlyn Carnicella. The tandem has now won seven straight doubles matches and improved to 10-1 since taking over the No. 2 spot in early February.

Julia Garcia Ruiz and Salakthip Ounmuang followed with a 6-3 win over Sara Borkop and Jane Dunyon at the No. 3 court. The pair extended their team-leading record to 15-2 together this spring and 7-1 from the No. 3 position. Garcia Ruiz also notched her 93rd career doubles victory, tying for second in program history.

The top-ranked duo of Roisin Gilheany and Gloriana Nahum remained on court one but did not need to finish their match after the doubles point was clinched.

In singles, Ounmuang secured the second point of the day with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Jana Stojanova. No. 40 Garcia Ruiz finished second with a 6-1, 6-3 victory against Borkop.

At the top spot, No. 41 Laskevich closed out the match with a 6-1, 6-4 win over No. 56 Carnicella. The victory marked her eighth straight singles win and sixth ranked singles victory of the season, highlighting her impressive performance from the No. 1 spot all spring.

Matches on courts two, four, and six went unfinished after the Sooners clinched the sweep.

The win was Oklahoma's 11th shutout of the season and extended its longest win streak in two years. The Sooners will look to carry momentum into Sunday's matchup against top-ranked Georgia at noon in Norman.
