NORMAN — The Oklahoma track and field team hits the road for a split weekend of competition, sending the majority of its squad to Fayetteville, Ark., for the Tyson Invitational on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 13–14, at the Randal Tyson Track Center. In addition, a select group of men's distance runners will travel to Seattle, Wash., for the Husky Classic at the Dempsey Indoor Center.
Competition at the Tyson Invitational begins Friday with running events at 12 p.m. CT, followed by field events at 1:00 p.m., with an estimated finish at 7:30 p.m. Action resumes Saturday with field events at 10:30 a.m. CT and running events scheduled for 11:45 a.m. Fans can follow along via live results on Flash Results or tune in on ESPN+.
At the Husky Classic, two Sooners, Shadrack Kiptoo and Thobias Cheruiyot, are slated to compete in the 5,000-meter run Friday, scheduled to begin at approximately 3:10 p.m. CT. Four additional distance runners, Evans Biwott, Ahmed Kadri, Hayden Gray and Ronald Ngetich, will take the track Saturday, with events beginning at 8 a.m. CT.
With the postseason fast approaching, the Sooners look to build on their upward trajectory during the final stretch of the indoor regular season. The men remain No. 6 in the USTFCCCA TFRI National Rankings, while Oklahoma's men's high jump holds the No. 1 spot in the event rankings. Kennedy Stringfellow (long jump) and BJ Green (triple jump) also rank No. 1 nationally in their respective events.
At last weekend's Oklahoma Classic, senior Kennedy Clarke extended her school-record mark in the women's weight throw with a toss of 21.70m (71'2.50"), ranking No. 14 nationally and No. 4 in the SEC.
On the men's side, senior Brendon See improved to No. 2 in program history in the weight throw with a mark of 21.39m (70'2.25"), while junior Connor Jones moved to No. 8 all-time at OU with a throw of 18.67m (61'3.00").
The Sooners enter their second season in the SEC, a league known for track and field dominance. Oklahoma made a standout first impression during its inaugural season, including eight individual conference titles and a fourth-place finish from the women's team at the 2025 SEC Indoor Championship. At NCAA Outdoors a season ago, the men brought home a sixth-place finish, good for the best outdoor nationals finish for an OU team in 28 years.
