WALNUT, Calif. — The Oklahoma men's and women's track and field teams wrapped up four days of competition in California at the Mt. SAC Relays and Bryan Clay Invitational on Saturday.
OU opened competition Wednesday with Angel Richmore, who scored 5,649 points to place ninth in the elite division of the women's heptathlon.
On Thursday, Amiyah Norwood placed third in the collegiate division of the women's javelin with a throw of 44.46m (145'10.00"). Jack Vincent added a strong performance in the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase, placing third and moving to No. 4 in OU history.
Friday's action featured several personal-best performances across the board. Ally Stephenson clocked 13.90 (+0.5) in the women's 100-meter hurdles, while Jada Atkinson (54.02) and Gladys David Mumbe (54.84) each recorded personal bests in the women's 400 meters. Chloe Rodriguez placed seventh in the women's 400-meter hurdles in 58.71.
In the field, Jacelyn Neighbors cleared 4.20m (13'9.25") to place second in the women's pole vault, moving to No. 7 in program history, while Lilly Samanski added a personal-best 4.05m (13'3.50") to place sixth. Maggie Mullings placed fifth in the women's shot put with a throw of 14.09m (46'2.75"), and Awakhiwe Ndlovu recorded a mark of 15.59m (51'1.75") to finish third in the men's triple jump.
On the track, Braden Parris posted a personal-best 21.09 (+0.4) in the men's 200 meters, while Carlos Tello placed third in the men's 800 meters in 1:50.87. The men's 4x400 relay of Gage Hensey, Keith Griffin III, Samuel Toili and Parris placed second in 3:09.27, while the women's 4x400 relay team of Atkinson, Nia Parks, Mumbe and Rodriguez finished fourth in 3:39.92.
Late Friday night at Bryan Clay, Oklahoma's distance group delivered record-breaking performances. Freshman Domtila Cheruto set a new outdoor school record in the women's 5,000 meters, clocking 15:30.27 to mark her fourth program record of the season. Ronald Ngetich followed with a school-record 13:32.79 in the men's 5,000 meters, while Evans Biwott recorded a personal-best 13:38.42 to rank No. 3 in OU history. Hayden Gray added a personal-best 1:49.45 in the men's 800 meters to move into the OU all-time top 10.
Saturday's competition at Mt. SAC was highlighted by Ralford Mullings, who won the elite division of the men's discus with a season-best 64.77m (212'6.00"), ranking No. 2 in the NCAA. Riley Ammenhauser added a victory in the elite division of the women's triple jump with a personal-best 13.17m (43'2.50").
Additional top performances included Tyley Dotson's outdoor personal-best 16.20m (53'1.75") for fourth in the women's shot put, Kennedy Clarke's 63.47m (208'3.00") for sixth in the women's hammer throw and Tyson Ritz's 2.15m (7'0.50") clearance for sixth in the men's high jump. Brendon See placed sixth in the men's discus at 57.83m (189'8.00"), while BJ Green and Floyd Whitaker placed sixth and seventh, respectively, in the elite division of the men's triple jump. The women's 4x100 relay team of Nebtom N'Da, Jordan Atkinson, Eva Kubickova and Morgan Little finished sixth in 45.31.
The Sooners return home to host the OU O Ring Alumni Open on Saturday, April 25 at the John Jacobs Track & Field Complex.
