EUGENE, Ore. — The Oklahoma men's and women's track and field teams completed day two of competition Thursday at the NCAA Outdoor Championships at Hayward Field, highlighted by a Second Team All-America performance from freshman
Domtila Cheruto in the women's 10,000 meters.
Cheruto continued her remarkable debut season, clocking 32:25.66 in the women's 10,000 meters to place 10th and earn Second Team All-America honors at her first NCAA Outdoor Championships. The freshman will return to the track Saturday in the women's 5,000 meters.
Kennedy Clarke earned honorable mention All-America recognition in the women's hammer throw for the second consecutive season, recording a mark of 60.20m (197'6.00") to finish 20th nationally. The redshirt junior capped a strong season that included appearances at both the NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Championships and saw her become Oklahoma's school record holder in the indoor weight throw.
Oklahoma returns to action Friday beginning at 11:45 a.m. PT, when
Angel Richmore opens competition in the heptathlon with the 100-meter hurdles. At 2:15 p.m. PT,
Ralford Mullings will look to defend his NCAA outdoor title in the men's discus. The senior enters the meet as the reigning SEC and West Regional champion and is ranked No. 2 in the NCAA .
Kyren Washington will compete in the men's high jump at 4:30 p.m. PT, making his third appearance at the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
BJ Green follows at 6:10 p.m. PT in the men's triple jump, where he will also look to defend his national title.
Green and Mullings will each attempt to become the first Sooner to win back-to-back NCAA men's outdoor titles.
