BATON ROUGE, La. — The Oklahoma men's and women's track and field teams wrapped up competition Saturday at the Battle on the Bayou, highlighted by a victory in the men's discus and multiple outdoor personal-best performances.
Ralford Mullings, the reigning NCAA outdoor discus champion, led the Sooners with a victory in his season debut, throwing 62.82m (206'1.00") to post the top mark in the SEC this season.
In the high jump, junior Tyson Ritz cleared an outdoor personal-best 2.16m (7'1.00") to place second, while Hannah Pfiffner and Brianna Rivers each recorded personal-best clearances of 1.76m (5'9.25") in the women's high jump, finishing second and fourth, respectively.
On the track, Abby Jepchirchir placed seventh in the women's 800 meters in 2:08.04, while Kel McDavid recorded an outdoor personal-best 2:12.46. The men's 800 group saw three personal-best performances from Hayden Gray (1:49.87), Carlos Tello (1:50.00) and Logan Seger (1:55.44).
Keith Griffin III added a personal-best 46.89 in the men's 400 meters, and Ally Stephenson clocked a PB of 13.91 in the women's 100-meter hurdles.
In the throws, Tucker Smith placed fifth in the men's shot put with a mark of 17.73m (58'4.50"), while Tyley Dotson recorded an outdoor personal-best 15.10m (49'6.50") to place fourth in the women's shot put. Chesni Scott added a fifth-place finish in the women's discus at 55.20m (181'1.00").
In the jumps, Taylor Fingers placed third in the women's triple jump with a mark of 12.96m (42'6.25") (+2.4), while her wind-legal 12.92m (42'4.75") (+0.0) ranks tied for No. 10 in OU history. Riley Ammenhauser followed in fourth at 12.90m (42'4.00") (+3.1), and Awakhiwe Ndlovu placed fifth in the men's triple jump with a mark of 15.32m (50'3.25") (+2.3).
Overall, Oklahoma recorded three event wins and 15 outdoor personal bests across the two-day meet.
The Sooners return to Norman to host their first home outdoor meet of the season Friday, April 10 at the John Jacobs Track and Field Complex.
