NORMAN — The Oklahoma men's and women's track and field teams wrapped up competition at the OU O Ring Alumni Open, totaling 18 event titles and three top-10 marks in program history while honoring several Sooner alumni throughout the weekend.
Oklahoma opened competition in the combined events, where senior Ally Stephenson claimed the heptathlon title with 5,306 points. Stephenson recorded personal bests in the 100-meter hurdles (13.72) and 200 meters (24.26), added a season-best 5.88m (19'3.50") in the long jump and closed with a win in the 800 meters (2:22.03).
In the throws, Amiyah Norwood secured the first event win of the weekend in the women's javelin with a throw of 42.07m (138'0.00"), while Henry Martin placed second in the men's javelin at 59.81m (196'2.00"). Brendon See led the men's hammer throw with a winning mark of 58.03m (190'5.00") and added a second title in the men's discus (57.81m/189'8.00"), while Connor Jones finished second in the hammer. Kennedy Clarke placed third in the women's hammer throw (63.15m/207'2.00"), and Tyley Dotson won the women's shot put with a 16.20m (53'1.75") throw. Tucker Smith added a win in the men's shot put (17.52m/57'5.75").
On the track, the Sooners dominated the distance events. Evans Biwott led a 1-2-3-4-5 sweep in the men's 1,500 meters with a personal-best 3:48.99, followed by Hayden Gray, Jack Vincent, Ronald Ngetich and Adrian Stuphan. Vincent later added a win in the men's 5,000 meters with a personal-best 14:26.02. Freshman Domtila Cheruto captured the women's 1,500 meters in a personal-best 4:25.98, while Gabi Barrera won the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase (10:57.77).
In the middle distances, Carlos Tello won the men's 800 meters (1:50.75), while Abby Jepchirchir claimed the women's 800 meters title (2:09.51). Samuel Toili placed second in the men's 400 meters (46.16), followed by Keith Griffin III and Gage Hensey, while Jada Atkinson took second in the women's 400 meters (54.37).
In the sprints and hurdles, Kassidi Watkins won the women's 100-meter hurdles (14.00), while Chloe Rodriguez captured the women's 400-meter hurdles title in 57.53 to move to No. 5 in OU history. Kennedy Stringfellow added a win in the men's 200 meters with a personal-best 20.65, while Jordan Atkinson and Sydney Spikerman each recorded personal bests in the women's 200 meters.
In the field events, Tyson Ritz highlighted the group with a personal-best clearance of 2.21m (7'3.00") to win the men's high jump and move to No. in the NCAA and No. 3 in OU history. Kyren Washington placed second, followed by Julian McCullough and Trey Bartholomew. Colton Rhodes won the men's pole vault (5.25m/17'2.75"), while Jacelyn Neighbors placed second on the women's side. Tessani Foster cleared a personal-best 4.17m (13'8.25") in the same event to finish third and improve to No. 9 in OU history. Morgan Little added a win in the women's long jump (5.90m/19'4.25"), followed by Kendall Johnson in second.
The Sooners return to action at home Friday, May 1, hosting the Sooner Invitational at the John Jacobs Track & Field Complex in their final home meet of the outdoor season.
