Historic NCAA Run Ends in Semifinal
November 22, 2025 | Women's Tennis
ORLANDO, Fla. — The Oklahoma women's tennis team capped its fall season at the NCAA Individual Championships on Saturday at the USTA National Campus, highlighted by a historic doubles run from Roisin Gilheany and Gloriana Nahum.
The No. 27-ranked OU tandem began play with a 6-4, 6-2 win against Maryland's No. 47 Ema Kovacevic and Emma Ghirardato, followed by a 6-1, 6-7 (5), 10-7 victory over No. 78 Anet Koskel and Carolina Gomez Alonso (Arkansas) to advance to the quarterfinals – a feat that earned them ITA All-American honors.
Gilheany and Nahum then topped preseason No. 1 Reese Brantmeier and Alanis Hamilton of North Carolina, 6-3, 4-6, 10-5, marking the second time this fall the Sooners have defeated the Tar Heel duo. The win sent Gilheany and Nahum to the semifinals, making them the first doubles team in program history to reach the NCAA doubles final four.
Their run ended in Saturday's semifinal, where the pair fell to No. 12 Celia-Belle Mohr and Sophia Webster of Vanderbilt.
Senior Julia Garcia Ruiz, a two-time ITA All-American and 2024 NCAA semifinalist, opened her singles slate on Tuesday but came up short to NC State's No. 74 Gabriella Broadfoot, 7-6 (5), 6-4.
The Sooners will return to action in January for spring duals. A schedule will be released at a later date.
