January 14, 2026 | Women's Tennis

NORMAN – The No. 6 ranked Oklahoma Women's tennis team opens its 2026 dual slate with four matches this week at the Headington Family Tennis Center. The Sooners begin play Thursday with a doubleheader against Tarleton State and Wyoming before returning to the courts Saturday for another doubleheader versus Wichita State and Texas State.

Oklahoma will open the weekend Thursday against the Texans at 2 p.m., followed by a 5 p.m. matchup with the Cowgirls. The Sooners resume action Saturday, taking on Wichita State at 1 p.m. and closing the weekend against Texas State at 4 p.m.

The Sooners' 2026 home matches at the Headington Family Tennis Center will be open to the public and free of charge. Due to the elimination of concessions, fans are encouraged to bring their own food and drinks. OU's clear bag policy will be enforced. Pom poms will be available to fans at all four matches while supplies last, and fans attending the Wyoming match can enter for a chance to win an autographed Coach Venables football. Fans can keep up with live stats or watch on Playsight.

Oklahoma returns five players from last season's squad including All-SEC selection Julia Garcia Ruiz, along with Roisin Gilheany, Chloé Noël, Gloriana Nahum and All-SEC Freshman Team honoree Salakthip Ounmuang. Cohen and the Sooners also added Florida International transfer Oyinlomo Quadre and freshmen Laura BrunkelEvialina Laskevich and Edda Mamedova ahead of the 2025 fall season.

Oklahoma's fall season was highlighted by a historic doubles performance from Roisin Gilheany and Gloriana Nahum at the NCAA Individual Championships. The pair earned ITA All-American honors and reached the semifinals, becoming the first doubles team in program history to advance to the NCAA doubles final four.

Head coach Audra Cohen enters her tenth season, owning a 162-66 record. Cohen is joined by associate head coach Mariana Cobra and assistant coach Edson Ortiz.

Coming off a 2025 season that resulted in the program's 16th NCAA tournament appearance and sixth under Cohen, the Sooners begin the season ranked inside the ITA preseason top 20 for the fourth consecutive year.

Following Saturday's doubleheader, OU will remain at home, hosting ITA Kickoff weekend starting with a Jan. 23 contest against Memphis.
