NORMAN — The University of Oklahoma track and field team resumes their postseason at the NCAA West First Rounds hosted by Arkansas. The meet will be held at the John McDonnell Field in Fayetteville, Ark., Wednesday, May 22 through Saturday, May 25.
Thirty-four Sooners qualified for the meet, including three relay teams. Men's events are scheduled for Wednesday and Friday, while women's events are set for Thursday and Saturday. Due to the potential of severe weather on Wednesday, field events have been rescheduled for 9 a.m. CT and running events at 6 p.m. CT. Field events begin at 10 a.m. CT on Thursday and running events at 6 p.m. CT. Field events are set for 1 p.m. CT and running events for 5 p.m. CT on Friday and Saturday.
"I'm looking forward to our athletes having the chance to qualify for the final site championships by securing a top-12 finish among 48 competitors in their respective events," stated head coach James Thomas. "It's an exciting time in the season where everyone has an equal opportunity to advance over the next four days. The journey to Eugene begins in Fayetteville and I can't wait to see who will rise to the challenge."
The qualifiers out of the west and east regions will compete in the NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Track and Field Championships held June 5-8 in Eugene, Ore. The top 12 competitors from each individual event and the top 12 teams from each relay event will advance from each first round.

Flash Results. The championship will air on ESPN+ from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday, and from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
OU T&F Outdoor Season Highlights
Seven Sooners are currently ranked in the top 16 in the nation in their respective events.
Paige Low broke the discus school record with a 58.40m (191'7") toss at the Rock Chalk Classic. This mark is 15th in the nation and 10th in the region.
Freshman
Thobias Cheruiyot broke the 10,000-meter-run school record at the Stanford Invite on March 30 with a 28:35.80 time.
BJ Green currently holds the best triple jump mark of 16.76m (55'20") in the nation, achieved at Mt. SAC Relays. This mark also bumped Green up to No. 2 in OU's outdoor all-time list. He won the Big 12 triple jump title after leaping to 16.52m (54'2.50"), sweeping both the indoor and outdoor championship.
In the heptathlon, combined events duo
Pippi Lotta Enok and
Angel Richmore grabbed top-10 scores in the nation at Mt. SAC Relays. Enok recorded 6,011 points, third in the country and Richmore registered 5,777, 10th in the NCAA. With these marks, Enok and Richmore automatically qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
Four-time All-American pole vaulter
Olivia Lueking grabbed the seventh-best mark in the nation and fifth in the region at the John Jacobs Invitational, clearing 4.45m (14'7.25").
Kassidy Gallagher sits at No. 13 in the nation and sixth in the west region after tossing to 66.51m (218'2") at the Rock Chalk Classic.
Jasmine Akins earned a personal collegiate-best mark of 6.54m (21'5.5") in the long jump at Texas Relays, the 13th-best leap in the nation and ninth in the region.
