No. 9 Sooners Fall to No. 3 TCU in Big 12 Semifinals

STILLWATER, Okla. – The No. 9 Oklahoma men's tennis team dropped their semifinal match to No. 3 TCU 4-1, bringing their time in the Big 12 Championship to a close.

TCU took the doubles point with wins at the one and three lines. After the No. 53 pair Baptiste Anselmo and Alex Martinez dropped their set 4-6, sophomore Luis Alvarez and freshman Kholo Montsi won their doubles set at the two position to bring the doubles point down to the winner of court three. Freshman duo Hank Trondson and Asahi Harazaki dropped the set 4-6.

Junior Jordan Hasson dropped his match to No. 55 Pedro Vives and No. 64 Kholo Montsi came up short against No. 8 Jake Fearnley.

With the Sooners down 0-3, fifth-year senior Justin Schlageter picked up a straight-set win at the five line to put the Sooners on the board.

With sets split on courts one, four and six, the Sooners fought to make a comeback. Fifth-year senior and No. 7 Alex Martinez was ahead 6-3, 2-6, 4-3 to N0. 10 Jack Pinnington and Alvarez gained a 4-6, 6-3, 4-3 lead against No. 72 Lui Maxted.

The final point for the Horned Frogs came at the six line with the Sooners' fifth-year senior Mark Mandlik coming up short in the third set, 1-6, 6-2, 4-6.
