No. 11 Sooners Top No. 8 Texas A&M

NORMAN - The No. 11 Oklahoma men's tennis team upset No. 8 Texas A&M in front of a home crowd Tuesday night.
With the Sooners leading the match 3-1, sophomore Luis Alvarez clinched the match with a win in the third set on court four.
OU took the lead in the match after winning the doubles point with wins at the two and three positions. Freshman Kholo Montsi and sophomore Luis Alvarez picked up their first win as a pair at the two line, 6-2 and freshman duo Hank Trondson and Asahi Harazaki clinched the doubles point for the Sooners.
Wins from fifth-year senior and No. 16 Alex Martinez and Montsi set Alvarez up to seal the match in the third set. Martinez picked up another ranked win over No. 26 Raphael Parot and Montsi topped No. 30 JC Roddick at the two line.
The wins for the Aggies came from the three and six lines with fifth-year senior Mark Mandlik dropping his match and junior Jordan Hasson coming up short.
To conclude the match, fifth-year senior Justin Schlageter came back from a first-set loss to take the second and third sets in tiebreaks, giving the Sooners their fifth and final point of the match.Ā
UP NEXT
The Sooners host No. 31 Baylor on Friday, April 5 at 6 p.m. in the final Friday Night Lights match of the season. OU then faces No. 5 Texas at home the following Sunday, April 7 at 1 p.m.
