Sooners Set for Three Ranked Matchups

NORMAN - The Oklahoma men's tennis team is prepped to host three ranked conference matchups this week. The Sooners host No. 10 Texas A&M on Tuesday, April 2 at 6 p.m., followed by No. 27 Baylor on Friday, April 5 at 6 p.m. and No. 4 Texas on Sunday, April 7 at 1 p.m.
MATCHDAY BASICS
Matches for the 2024 men's tennis season are free of charge and open to the public. Due to the elimination of concessions, fans are encouraged to bring their own food and drinks. Free pizza and schedule posters will be provided for fans in attendance at Tuesday's match. Fans present at the Friday match can enjoy free snacks in representation of the international celebration match. Sunday's match will have a free cookout for fans along with free tennis ball throwers for theĀ Bark in the Park match. The clear bag policy will be in place.Ā
Fans can follow Tuesday's match through live stream or live stats and Friday's match can be live streamed or tracked through live stats. Live streaming and live stats are also available for Sunday's match.Ā
LAST TIME OUT
The Sooners improved to 4-0 in conference play and 16-2 on the season after picking up two league wins.
OU pulled off an upset over No. 3 TCU at home with fifth-year senior and No. 20 Alex Martinez clinching the match. The Sooners dropped the doubles point but came back in singles to win 4-3.
The Sooners picked up their third road conference win in Orlando, Florida over UCF. OU swept the Knights after winning the doubles point and picking up three consecutive singles wins.
SCOUTING THE AGGIES
The Aggies are ranked No. 10 in the ITA team rankings. The team has two ranked singles player and one doubles team in the rankings. JC Roddick sits at No. 24 in the ITA singles rankings and is accompanied by Raphael Perot at No. 33. Togan Tokac and Giulio Perego are ranked No. 28 in doubles.
TRACKING THE BEARS
Baylor is the No. 27 team in the country and has three players ranked in singles. Tadeas Paroulek sits at the No. 50 spot, Zsombor Velcz is No. 74 and Devin Badenhorst is No. 88. Paroulek and Velcz are the No. 40 ranked doubles team.
SEEKING THE LONGHORNS
Texas is currently ranked No. 4 as a team and has four ranked singles players along with two ranked doubles teams. The No. 1 and No. 2 players in the nation come from Texas, with Eliot Spizzirri being No. 1 and Micah Braswell being No. 2. Gilles-Arnaud Bailly is No. 40 in the nation and Jonah Braswell is No. 67. Spizzirri and Cleeve Harper are the No. 8 ranked doubles team and Spizzirri and Siem Woldeab are No. 53.
