February 11, 2023 | Track and Field

CHICAGO, Ill. – The University of Oklahoma track and field team concluded its time at the Windy City Invitational in Chicago, Ill., and the Tiger Paw Invitational in Clemson, S.C.

"This weekend our squads continued their efforts to make the OU track program the best it can be," said head coach Tim Langford. "Two different locations allowed us to maximize our potential, move up on the nationals list, and set records at both facilities."

At Clemson, OU competed in the men's 4x400 relay team and finished in third place with a time of 3:03.71. The relay squad consisted of Zarik Brown, Richard Kuykendoll, Josh Bour and Muzuri Mattar. Their performance set a new program record and they currently rank first in the Big 12.

At the Windy City Invitational in Chicago, Ill., the day started off with a victory from Kennedy Blackmon in the women's 200-meter dash with a personal best time of 23.34. On the men's side, A'lajuwan Robinson crossed the finish line at 21.46 and secured fifth place.

The men's shot put competition saw freshman Tucker Smith take home first place after throwing for a personal best 60-10.5 (18.55m). On the women's side, senior Abby Moore threw for 52-1 (16.1m) to claim third place.

In the women's triple jump, three Sooners finished in the top-five: Jasmine Akins (12.57m), Agur Dwol (12.43m), and Symone Washington (12.31m) finished second, third, and fourth respectively.

Brandon Green Jr. jumped for 49-09.25 (15.17m) in the men's triple jump, while Jayden Louis-Charles clearned 45-07 (13.89m).

Back on the track, junior Fernando Morales ran a personal best 1:50.33 in the men's 800-meter.

Sophomore Olivia Lueking cleared 13-8.25 (4.17m) to take home first place, while freshman Cassidy Bradshaw recorded a height of 13-04.25 (4.07m). On the men's side, Colton Rhodes finished after clearing 16-04 (4.98m).

In the women's mile, Gabi Barrera clocked a new personal best with a time of 4:54.73, while Jordan Gledhill also ran for a career best time 4:08.22 on the men's side.

Yazmine Wright won the 3k with a time of 9:07.62, which is good for a facility record and the second fastest time in program history.

To close out the meet, the women's 4x400 relay team (Jenna James, Kennedy Blackmon, Alyia Green and Ashonti Warner) ran for a time of 3:39.06 and claimed fourth place.

"Very proud of the hard work and execution displayed by our program this weekend," said Langford.
