Sooners Complete Run at the ITA Central Region Championships

NORMAN - The Oklahoma men's tennis team wrapped up play at the ITA Central Region Championships, earning 11 wins as a team.
The Sooners were represented by fifth-year senior Justin Schlageter, senior Nathan Han, fifth-year senior Mark Mandlik, fifth-year senior Baptiste Anselmo and freshman Hank Trondson.
Han put up an impressive display of competition. After receiving a bye in the first round, he defeated New Mexico's Avery Tallakson, 6-1, 6-2 in the round of 64 and took down Wichita State's Vanja Hodzic, 6-4, 6-2 in the round of 32. He then advanced to the round of 16 where he was defeated by Oklahoma State's Alessio Basile, 7-5, 6-4, coming up just short of the quarterfinals
Schlageter received a bye in the first round and defeated Declan Townsend of Saint Louis, 6-3, 6-1 in the round of 64. He then fell short in the round of 32, losing to Alan Sau Franco (Arkansas) in a three-set match, 6-4, 5-7, 6-4.
After receiving a bye in the first round, Mandlik took down Bozo Barun of Arkansas, 6-3, 6-3 in the round of 64. In yet another three-set battle, Mark Mandlik fell to Oklahoma State's Alessio Basile in the round of 32, 2-6, 6-1, 6-2.
On the doubles side, Han and Anselmo competed together, as did Mandlik and Trondson.
Mandlik and Trondson defeated Lindenwood's Mattis Lamm and Nathan Matsuguma to advance to the round of 32, where they picked up another win against Olle Sonesson Lidholt and Jeremy Schifris of Drake. They put up a fight against Alan Sau Franco and Melvin Manuel of Arkansas in the round of 16, but ultimately fell short, 8-4.
Han and Anselmo, took a loss in the round of 32 against Creighton's Alejandro Gandini and Matthew Lanahan, 8-3.
In extra matches, Trondson defeated Jared Horwood of Arkansas, 6-3, 6-4, Schlageter took down Nebraska's Shunya Maruyama, 6-4, 1-6, 10-4, Mandlik defeated Wichita State's Kristof Minarik, 6-3, 6-4 and Anselmo took down Nebraska's Lars Johann, 2-6, 6-3, 10-7.
