Men's Tennis Prepped for ITA Kickoff Weekend

NORMAN - The Oklahoma men's tennis team heads to Knoxville, Tenn., for ITA Kickoff Weekend beginning Friday. 2023 will mark OU's 12th straight appearance at the kickoff.
The Sooners will face Charlotte in the first round on Friday at 9 a.m. CT, while host No. 11 Tennessee and Louisiana will compete on the other side of the bracket.
The winners ofĀ Friday's matches will face off Saturday in the championship match at 12 p.m., with that winner punching its ticket to the ITA National Indoor Championships set for Feb. 17-20 in Chicago, Ill. The remaining teams will play a consolation contest Saturday at 9 a.m. CT.
LAST TIME OUT
OU opened its season last weekend with back-to-back sweeps over Bryant and UTSA. To clinch the opening point vs. Bryant, Nathan Han and Jordan Hasson snagged the 6-2 win over Leonardo Mileikowsky and Nick Lorenz. Newcomer Siphos Montsi secured the first win of the season for the Sooners in singles on court three, taking down Lorenz 6-2, 6-0.
In Sunday's matchup against UTSA, Han and Hasson once again claimed the doubles point, defeating Garrett Skelly and Tomas Pinho 6-4. Senior Alex Martinez was credited the match clinch with his 6-4, 7-5 comeback win at the top court over Tiago Torres.

OU return to action at the Headington Family Tennis Center, hosting Drake on Feb. 3 and a doubleheader with Wichita State and Incarnate Word on Feb. 5. Friday's competition against Drake is slated for 6 p.m. CT, while Wichita State and Incarnate Word will take place at 12 p.m. and 4 p.m., respectively.
