NORMAN – The No. 3 Oklahoma women's tennis team heads to Texas to face No. 72 TCU and No. 27 Texas Tech beginning Friday. The Sooners will begin their trip in Fort Worth, Texas, against the Horned Frogs on Friday before traveling to Lubbock, Texas, to face the Red Raiders on Sunday.

LAST TIME OUT

Doubles playĀ kicked off with a dominate 6-3 win fromĀ Anchisa ChantaĀ andĀ Dana GuzmanĀ on court three, who downed Sabina Zeynalova and Bella Zamarripa.Ā 

The Longhorns came back with a battle at the top court from No. 77 Allura Zamarripa and Peyton Stearns, beating Ivana andĀ Carmen Corley, 7-5. TexasĀ clinched the doubles point whenĀ the No. 66-rankedĀ duo of Kylie Collins and Charlotte ChavatiponĀ scratched outĀ a 7-6 (9-7) win on court two over OU'sĀ Layne SleethĀ andĀ Alexandra Pisareva.

Going into singles, the Sooners were down 0-1 against the Longhorns. Action kicked off with freshmanĀ Anchisa ChantaĀ getting OU on the board with a 6-2, 6-3 win on court four. Texas came back with two back-to-back victories. The first wasĀ from No. 75 Sabina Zeynalova, taking down OU'sĀ Ivana Corley, 6-4, 6-2, on court three, while No. 5 Peyton Stearns left victorious overĀ Layne Sleeth, ranked 19th,Ā at the top court, 6-4, 6-3.Ā 

The Sooners came back with a court five victory from seniorĀ Alexandra Pisareva, 7-6 (8), 6-4, over Vivian Ovrootsky. To tie the match, No. 43Ā Carmen CorleyĀ defeated No. 50 Kylie Collins on court two in an intense 7-5, 7-5 battle.

To clinch the match, freshmanĀ Emma StakerĀ fought hard for the Sooner victory on court six and defeated Allura Zamarripa, 7-5, 4-6, 7-6 (7-5).

The Sooners will be back on the road to face Iowa State on April 8 and West Virginia on April 10.
