Weekend Ends with Sooners Sweep

NORMAN — The No. 18 Oklahoma women's tennis team closed out this week's competition with a 7-0 sweep over Tarleton State.
In doubles, Carmen Corley and Emma Staker rolled past their competition, defeating Natalia Komar and Martha Makantasi 6-0 on court two. Anchisa Chanta and Marcelina Podlinska put the doubles point away for OU after a 6-0 victory over Elsa Boisson and Celia Vaudiau at the third spot.
When play was halted, Layne Sleeth and Sasha Pisareva were up 3-2 on the No. 1 line.
Chanta was the first Sooner to strike, tallying a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Makantasi at the three spot. Podlinska finished next for OU with a strong 6-0, 6-2 win over Komar on court five. No. 101 Staker clinched the contest when she defeated Hosking, 6-0, 6-0.
The remaining courts played out. No. 16 Sleeth kept the momentum going for OU with a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Jemi Aguilar on court two. Pisareva defeated Boisson 6-0, 6-1 at the four spot, while No. 105 C. Corley closed out competition for the Sooners with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Deniza Marcinkevica at the top spot.
UP NEXT
The Sooners hit the road to Durham, N.C. for ITA Kickoff Weekend beginning Jan. 29 against Furman.
