OU Falls to Longhorns in Austin

AUSTIN, Texas – Two Sooners came away with singles wins as the No. 21 Oklahoma men's tennis team fell to No. 6 Texas 5-2 Friday in Austin.
Mark Mandlik and Alex Martinez outlasted opponents in third sets to earn victories in the match. Mandlik put OU on the board with a 7-6 (2), 6-7 (5), 1-0 (8) win over Evin McDonald on court six.
Martinez got a win over a ranked opponent as he took out No. 99 Siem Woldeab 2-6, 6-2, 7-6 (3) at the No. 3 line.
Texas took the doubles point as OU's Jake Van Emburgh and Matt Rodriguez fell to Longhorns Micah Braswell and Payton Holden 6-1 on court three, and No. 28 Nathan Han and Alex Martinez were defeated by No. 12 Eliot Spizzirri and Siem Woldeab 6-3 at the top spot.
When play was halted, OU's Mark Mandlik and Max Stewart led Cleeve Harper and Chih Chi Huang 5-3 on court two.
In singles, No. 111 Mason Beiler fell to No. 16 Braswell 6-1, 6-1 on court two. At the No. 4 spot, Han dropped to Harper 6-2, 6-1. OU's Justin Schlageter fell to Huang 6-4, 6-3 on court five and the Longhorns clinched the match.
The remaining matches played out and Martinez and Mandlik earned their wins on courts three and six, respectively. No. 108 Van Emburgh fell to Texas' No. 23 Spizzirri after a 10-point tiebreaker, 6-7 (3), 6-3, 1-0 (7).
