Sooners Drop to #7 TCU

FORT WORTH – Two Sooners came away with singles wins as No. 21 Oklahoma men's tennis team fell to TCU 5-2 Sunday in Fort Worth.

Alex Martinez notched his second victory over a ranked opponent on the weekend as he took down No. 47 Jong 7-6, 6-4 on court three. The win was also good for Martinez's fifth straight.

On court six, freshman Welsh Hotard defeated TCU's Tadeas Paroulek 6-3, 6-4.

Elsewhere in the match, the Sooners dropped the doubles point to TCU. At the top spot, No. 11 Martinez and Nathan Han fell to No. 11 Luc Fomba and Alastair Gray 6-2. Mason Beiler and Hotard were defeated by TCU's Max Kurzban and Jake Fearnley 6-2 on court three. When play was halted, Mark Mandlik and Max Stewart trailed Sander Jong and Paroulek 5-3 on court two.

In singles, No. 108 Jake Van Emburgh fell to No. 18 Fomba 6-4, 6-2 on court one. On court two, No. 111 Beiler took No. 10 Alastair Gray to the brink, but fell after three sets, 6-0, 3-6, 7-5.

Han fell to Tomas Jirousek 6-3, 7-5 at the No. 4 spot. Mandlik was defeated by No. 99 Fearnley 6-0, 6-2 on court five.
