NORMAN – The Oklahoma women's tennis team notched its second sweep of the season Wednesday as the Sooners shut out Wyoming 7-0.

Oklahoma improves to 2-0 on the season with the victory.

"I think even when you win you have to find ways to get better," said head coach Audra Cohen. "We have a lot of things we can learn from today and improve on to take into our match on Friday."

OU opened the match with the doubles point. The South American duo of Dana Guzman and Martina Capurro struck first with a 6-2 win over Wyoming's Ida Krause and Mihaela Kaftanova on court two. Carmen and Ivana Corley took down Maria Oreshkina and Lucia Malinak 6-3 to clinch the opening point for OU.

When play was halted, Kianah Motosono and Marcelina Podlinska trailed Cowgirls Ana Fernandez and Sophie Zehender, 5-3.

Podlinska cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 win over Krause on court five. Podlinska has given up just two games across the first two matches this season.

On court four, Guzman grabbed a 6-3, 6-3 win over Malinak. The freshman trailed 3-2 in the second set before winning four straight games to put her match away.

Motosono clinched the match for OU with a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Alyse Cormier on court six.

The remaining matches played out. Capurro defeated Zehender on court two. The Sooner rolled through the first set 6-2 before Wyoming's Zehender fired back to take the second 6-4 and send the match to a 10-point tiebreaker. Capurro powered through the breaker 10-5.

Ivana Corley tacked on another win for the Sooners on court three when she defeated Fernandez 6-4, 6-4.

In the last match on, Carmen Corley held strong to defeat Oreshkina 7-6 (5), 6-3. Carmen Corley took a 5-2 lead in the first set before Wyoming's Oreshkina tied the set at 6-all. Corley came out on top of a back-and-forth tiebreaker 7-5 to take it. The sophomore kept the momentum rolling into the second set to claim it 6-3 and complete the sweep for the Sooners.
