OU to Host Wyoming, Tulsa

NORMAN – The Oklahoma women's tennis team is back in action for two matches this week as the Sooners host Wyoming at 1 p.m. Wednesday followed by Tulsa on Friday at 1 p.m. at the Headington Family Tennis Center.

Martina Capurro and newcomer Dana Guzman secured the point with a 6-1 rout of Oral Roberts' Gorana Kadijevic and Zere Iskakova 6-1 on court two. The top court played out and Ivana Corley and Carmen Corley defeated Oleksandra Nahurska and Aliksandra Lebedeva 6-2 to improve to 22-1 as a pair since Carmen's arrival in Norman in January 2020.
Oral Roberts forfeited at the No. 6 spot to give OU a 2-0 advantage headed into singles play.
Ivana Corley struck first for the Sooners, routing Isakova 6-1, 6-0 at the three spot. Marcelina Podlinska clinched the win for oU as she powered past ORU's Rai Sengupta 6-0, 6-1, at the No. 5 line.
The remaining matches played out. Carmen Corley gave up just one game in a 6-0, 6-1 defeat of Nahurska at the top spot. Guzman grabbed her first collegiate win in a 6-2, 6-1 defeat of Kadijevic on court four.

Martina Okalova represents TU in the first ITA rankings of the year, checking in at No. 86. Okalova and Vera Ploner are ranked No. 22 in the singles release.
The Sooners and Golden Hurricane last met in 2019 in Norman where OU came out on top of a 4-3 thriller. Oklahoma gave up the doubles point to start the match but fired back in singles with wins from Camila Romero, Kianah Motosono and Ivana Corley to level the match at 3-3. The contest came down to court one where ITA No. 40 Oleksandra Korashvili held on for a three-set win over Okalova to clinch the victory.

OU Athletics has announced that fans will not be admitted for 2021 matches at the Headington Family Tennis Center due to limited seating capacity related to COVID-19 precautions. Scouting Wyoming
The Cowgirls come to Norman with a 2-1 mark. Wyoming opened the 2021 season with back-to-back 5-2 wins against Central Arkansas and Louisiana Tech in Tulsa. In their last match, the Cowgirls were swept by Tulsa 7-0.Tracking the Golden Hurricane
