NORMAN ā The Oklahoma women's tennis team is back in action for two matches this week as the Sooners host Wyoming at 1 p.m. Wednesday followed by Tulsa on Friday at 1 p.m. at the Headington Family Tennis Center.

Ā OU Athletics has announced that fans will not be admitted for 2021 matches at the Headington Family Tennis Center due to limited seating capacity related to COVID-19 precautions. Home and visitor student-athletes will receive a limited number of complimentary tickets on a pass-list basis.

The Sooners opened the season in statement fashion, sweeping Oral Roberts 7-0. In doubles, Oral Roberts forfeited at the No. 3 spot, meaning the Sooners needed just one win to claim the opening point.

Marcelina PodlinskaĀ clinched the win for oU as she powered past ORU's Rai Sengupta 6-0, 6-1, at the No. 5 line.

Carmen CorleyĀ gave up just one game in a 6-0, 6-1 defeat of Nahurska at the top spot. Guzman grabbed her first collegiate win in a 6-2, 6-1 defeat of Kadijevic on court four.

Scouting Wyoming
The Cowgirls come to Norman with a 2-1 mark. Wyoming opened the 2021 season with back-to-back 5-2 wins against Central Arkansas and Louisiana Tech in Tulsa. In their last match, the Cowgirls were swept by Tulsa 7-0.

Tracking the Golden Hurricane
Tulsa is 3-0 headed into Friday's match. The Golden Hurricane has swept each of its opponents this season, defeating Louisiana Tech, Wyoming and Central Arkansas 7-0.
Martina Okalova represents TU in the first ITA rankings of the year, checking in at No. 86. Okalova and Vera Ploner are ranked No. 22 in the singles release.
The Sooners and Golden Hurricane last met in 2019 in Norman where OU came out on top of a 4-3 thriller. Oklahoma gave up the doubles point to start the match but fired back in singles with wins from
Camila Romero,
Kianah Motosono and
Ivana Corley to level the match at 3-3. The contest came down to court one where ITA No. 40Ā
Oleksandra KorashviliĀ held on for a three-set win over Okalova to clinch the victory.
