NORMAN – The No. 25 Oklahoma men's tennis team capped off the weekend undefeated, taking out San Diego 4-3 Sunday at the Headington Family Tennis Center.
After giving up the doubles point, OU rallied for four singles victories to claim the match.

"Our guys fought back," said head coach Nick Crowell. "San Diego came out and took it to us in doubles. We had to regroup and our guys did a really good job of that.
We got some quick starts on a lot of courts, guys got up 4-0 and 5-0 on a couple courts and that's what you need in big matches like this. San Diego's  a really good team and we knew they were going to be hard to beat. I'm really proud of how our guys stuck in there."

With the win, OU improves to 6-3 on the season while San Diego moves to 3-2.

In doubles, Jake Van Emburgh and Mark Mandlik fell to No. 31 Nico Borter and Gui Osorio 6-2 at the top spot. Mason Beiler and Justin Schlageter were defeated by Sacchitt Sharrma and David Norfeldt 6-3 on court three.

When play was abandoned, Max Stewart and Alex Martinez were locked in at 4-4 on court two.

OU powered back in singles. Martinez never trailed in his 6-3, 6-4 win over Norfeldt at the No. 5 line.

Van Emburgh upset No. 39 Osorio 6-3, 6-4 at the top spot, winning his match on a service ace. The win was good for Van Emburgh's second over a ranked opponent this season.
"Jake stepped up again," said Crowell. "He's had a great weekend – he clinched against Arkansas (Friday) and set up the clinch today. Great performance by him."

The Sooners gained another team point when on court three USD's Sharrma retired. Mandlik led the match 6-2, 3-6, 1-0 when play was abandoned as OU tied the match at 2-2.
Jochen Bertsch clinched the match for the Sooners with a win on court six, playing a perfect first set to win his contest 6-0, 6-4.

No. 92 Schlageter fell to USD's Gamerov 6-3, 6-1 at the four slot. No. 71 Beiler was defeated by No. 58 August Holmgren 7-6 (1), 6-3 on court two.
