NORMAN – The Oklahoma men's tennis team is set to host the University of the Incarnate Word on Friday at 5 p.m. CT a the Headington Family Tennis Center.

The Sooners

OU enters Friday's contest at 6-3 on the year. In their weekend of competition, OU secured two gritty wins over Arkansas 4-3 (Feb. 7) and San Diego 4-3 (Feb. 9) at home.

Junior Jake Van Emburgh shined for the Sooners, clinching the win over Arkansas with a 7-6 (5), 7-5 win at the top spot before handling the No. 39 player in the country 6-3, 6-4 against San Diego two days later.
 
OU's freshmen Mark Mandlik, Alex Martinez and Justin Schlageter have also been a force for the Sooners. All three have seen significant playing time in singles and doubles and the trio owns a combined singles record of 14-4 this season. Mandlik remains undefeated on the year in singles with a 6-0 mark, and Martinez is 4-0 in doubles.
 

Where They Rank

Two Sooners were ranked in the latest ITA singles release. Mason Beiler checks in at No. 100 and Jake Van Emburgh entered the rankings at No. 107.
 
The Sooners are No. 23 in the Tennis Channel/USTA College Tennis Top 25. OU was tabbed No. 30 in the first ITA computer rankings of the season.
 

Scouting Incarnate Word

UIW comes to Norman at 2-3 on the season. Friday's contest will be the Cardinals' fourth of a four-match road swing.

Both of UIW's wins have been in sweeping fashion as the Cardinals shut out Our Lady of the Lake (7-0) and Prairie View A&M (7-0) earlier in the season. In its last contest, the Cardinals fell to UTSA 7-0.

Oklahoma heads to Orlando, Fla., on Feb. 28 for a meeting with Florida State at the USTA National Campus. OU has played three matches at the National Campus in the last two seasons and holds a 2-1 record there.
