NORMAN, Okla. -- As the students begin to arrive on campus for the first day of classes on Monday, Aug. 20, SoonerSports.com brings fans the final update of current Sooners competing in the numerous summer baseball leagues around the country, which recently concluded.

Texas Collegiate League
The TCL recently concluded its league playoffs and the Coppel Copperheads won the title by defeating the McKinney Marshals in a three game series. OU senior Jake McCarter was a vital part of both Game two and three in the championship series. In game two, McCarter recorded the save by retiring the Marshals in order to tie the series at one game apiece. In game three, he tossed two spotless innings of relief with zero hits allowed and three strikeouts en route to the Copperheads winning the TCL Championship. McCarter finished the season with 13 appearances, a 1-1 record, a 2.79 ERA and 32 strikeouts.
Fellow Sooner teammate, Zach Sawyer also pitched out of the Coppel bullpen this season. Sawyer recorded one save in his seven appearances with four strikeouts.
Cape Cod League
Sophomore Andrew Doyle (Hyannis Mets) ended the season tied for first on the team with four wins with a 4-1 record, a 2.83 ERA and 28 strikeouts.
Sophomore Aaron Baker hit three home runs (tied for third on the Cotuit Kettleers) and drove in 15 RBIs this summer.
Sophomore Garrett Richards (Cotuit Kettleers) finished the season with a 1-1 record in 15 appearances while posting a 4.76 ERA and 21 strikeouts.
West Coast Collegiate League
All-Star Zach Hedges finished the summer fourth in batting on the Moses Lake Pirates with a .270 average. Hedges, a sophomore, also connected for 11 RBIs.
Great Lakes League
Yarmouth - Dennis RedSox - Cape Cod League Bourne Braves - Cape Cod League Hyannis Mets - Cape Cod League
Chicago Cubs
Senior Ryan Mottern (Delaware Cows) rounded out the summer second on the team with a .394 batting average while driving in six runs off four doubles and two homers.
