Summer League Update #7

NORMAN, Okla. -- Throughout the summer, SoonerSports.com will bring fans weekly updates of current Sooners competing in the numerous summer baseball leagues around the country. Fans can also access information on former Sooners playing in Major League Baseball and its minor league affiliates.

Summer Collegiate League
Senior Ryan Mottern continues to shine for the Delaware Cows, where he ranks second on the team in batting average, with a .395 clip. He has also blasted two home runs and driven in six runs.

Incoming freshman Matt Hoffman (Midwest Nationals) boasts a .387 batting average. Hoffman is in the top five on the Nationals in hits with 41, second on the team with 28 RBIs and tied for second with five home runs.

Noteworthy
-Jake McCarter (Coppell Copperheads) has a record of 1-1 with an ERA of 1.48. McCarter also owns 29 strikeouts this summer in 24 innings of work.

Oklahoma in the Minors
Daniel McCutchen was brought up to the Trenton Thunder (Class-AA) since the last update. He has seven strikeouts in five innings of work since joining the Thunder. McCutchen was brought up from the Tampa Yankees (Class-A) were he was the first pitcher to 10 wins and had an ERA of 2.50.

Ryan Rohlinger (Augusta GreenJackets, Class-A) hit .250 with three RBIs and scored two runs this week. Rohlinger owns a .240 season batting average with a team-leading 17 home runs and is tied for first with 68 RBIs.

Noteworthy
- Jackson Williams (Salem-Keizer Volcanoes, Class-A) had a good outing July 28, going 2-for-4 with one home run, one RBI and scoring two runs.

Sonners in the Majors
Jason Bartlett (Minnesota Twins) has a five-game hit streak since the last update and has driven in two runs. For the season, Bartlett has a .260 average with three home runs, 27 RBIs and 20 stolen bases.
