NORMAN, Okla. -- Throughout the summer, SoonerSports.com will bring fans weekly updates of current Sooners competing in the numerous summer baseball leagues around the country. Fans can also access information on former Sooners playing in Major League Baseball and its minor league affiliates.
The fifth installment, along with links to each of the players' statistics, are listed below:
Summer Collegiate League
Sophomore Zach Hedges (Moses Lake Pirates) had one hit and one RBI in the West Coast Collegiate League All-Star Game. Hedges is boasting a .312 batting average and has driven in six runs this season.
Sophomore Andrew Doyle leads the Hyannis Mets with three wins in the Cape Cod League. He has 19 strikeouts in 32 innings pitched this summer. Doyle's next start is Sunday, July 22 when he faces the Brewster Whitecaps.
Noteworthy
-Matt Hoffman (Midwest Nationals), an incoming freshman, continues to display his hitting ability this summer adding another home run and three RBIs to his total. He is now tied for second on his team with five home runs and ranks third with 28 RBIs.
Oklahoma in the Minors
Val Pascucci (Albuquerque Isotopes Class-AAA) domination at the plate batting has not stopped since the All-Star break as he hit .466 with a home run and four RBIs against Omaha. Pascucci leads his team with 25 home runs and 79 RBIs this season.
Ryan Rohlinger (Augusta GreenJackets Class-A) also is keeping up to form blasting a home run and driving in three runs against Savannah. Rohlinger leads his team with 17 home runs and is tied for the lead in RBIs with 60.
Noteworthy
-Brad Burns (Kingsport Mets Class-A) has thrown well with a 2.25 ERA in five apperances. He has two wins and one save on the season with 10 strikeouts.
Sooners in the Majors
Jason Bartlett (Minnesota Twins) had a solid series against Detroit hitting .307 with two stolen bases. Bartlett has hit safely in eight out of his last 10 games and also leads the Twins with 19 stolen bases.
