NORMAN, Okla. -- Throughout the summer, SoonerSports.com will bring fans weekly updates of current Sooners competing in the numerous summer baseball leagues around the country. Fans can also access information on former Sooners playing in Major League Baseball and its minor league affiliates.

Collegiate Summer Leagues
Several Sooners are putting together solid performances in the Cape Cod League, regarded as the top collegiate summer league in the country.
Andrew Doyle (Hyannis Mets) pitched seven innings in his lone appearance, a start that saw him allow one run on five hits and a walk. Garrett Richards (Cotuit Kettleers) has two saves in two appearances and Stephen Porlier (Brewster Whitecaps) is 1-0 after lasting five innings with two strikeouts in his only start of the season. Aaron Baker (Cotuit Kettleers) is hitting .308 with three RBIs and two doubles.
Noteworthy:
- OU signee Matt Hoffman is leading his club, the Midwest Nationals of the Premier Baseball League, with a .511 batting average and .956 slugging percentage. In 14 games, Hoffman has driven in 15 runs. He is also 2-0 with a 2.00 ERA in his two starts on the mound.
Oklahoma in the Minors
Three Sooners from the 2007 club made their professional debut in the last two weeks. Jackson Williams has played one game with the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes (San Francisco Giants), while Joe Dunigan is hitting .250 with the Everett AquaSox (Seattle Mariners) after two games. Finally, Aaron Reza has also played in two games and is hitting .200 with the Lowell Spinners (Boston Red Sox).
Heath Taylor and Brad Burns have not made their debuts so far. Taylor is playing for the Mahoning Valley Scrappers (Cleveland Indians) and Burns is on the Kingsport Mets's roster (New York Mets).
Major League Sooners
Rocky Cherry is the latest Sooner to make his Major League debut. Cherry pitched in his first game on April 23, 2007 against Milwaukee at Wrigley Field. Now pitching with the Iowa City Cubs (AAA), Cherry was 1-1 in his eight appearances in Chicago. He struck out seven batters and recorded a 2.89 ERA in 9 1/3 innings or work.
Noteworthy:
- Reggie Willits (Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim) has stolen 18 bases in 60 games this season and is hitting .429 (12 hits) with seven RBIs in the last 10 games.
- Greg Dobbs (Philadelphia Phillies) has played multiple positions for the Philadelphia Phillies with a .286 clip and 29 RBIs in 60 games played.
