Baseball Summer League Update #6

NORMAN, Okla. -- Throughout the summer, SoonerSports.com will bring fans weekly updates of current Sooners competing in the numerous summer baseball leagues around the country. Fans can also access information on former Sooners playing in Major League Baseball and its minor league affiliates.

The six installment, along with links to each of the players' statistics, are listed below:

Summer Collegiate League
Sophomore Andrew Doyle (Hyannis Mets) added one more win to his team-leading four victory. He is boasting a 3.29 ERA in 41 innings of work with 24 strikeouts on the summer.

Since the West Coast League Collegiate All-Star Game on July 18 sophomore Zach Hedges (Moses Lake Pirates) has continued to bat well recording a home run and four RBIs this past week.

Noteworthy
-Senior Ryan Mottern is fourth in batting average (.296) with the Delaware Cows and has also driven in three runs in 27 attempts at the plate.

Oklahoma in the Minors
Daniel McCutchen (Tampa Yankees Class-A) threw a no-hitter for five innings against Lakeland in his team best 11 win of the year on July 22. McCutchen is tied for second with 67 strikeouts and owns a 2.50 ERA.

Brad Burns (Kingsport Mets Class-A) has lowered his ERA to 1.69 with five scoreless innings and six strikeouts in his last two appearances. Burns has two wins, one save and 15 strikeouts on the year.

Noteworthy
-Val Pascucci (Albuquerque Isotopes Class-AAA) has blasted two home runs and added three RBIs since the last update. This year Pascucci is batting .284 with a team-leading 27 home runs and 82 RBIs.

Sooners in the Majors
Greg Dobbs (Philadelphia Phillies) has hit safely in six of the last 10 games hitting .333 while driving in two runs. With the Phillies this year he is batting .294 with seven home runs and 36 RBIs.
