No. 8 Sooners Travel to Vanderbilt, Missouri for Final SEC Road Trip

NORMAN – The No. 8 Oklahoma women's tennis team (19-4, 9-2 SEC) returns to the road this week, traveling to face No. 11 Vanderbilt on Thursday, April 2 in Nashville, Tenn., before taking on Missouri on Saturday, April 4 in Columbia.

MATCHDAY BASICS

Thursday's match will be played at the Lummis Family Tennis Center at 5 p.m. CT, while Saturday's contest will take place at the Mizzou Tennis Complex at 12 p.m. CT.

Vanderbilt enters the week with an 18-5 overall record and an 8-3 mark in SEC play, while Missouri sits at 11-13 overall and 0-11 in conference action.

LAST TIME OUT

The Sooners are coming off an impressive 2-0 weekend at home, extending their winning streak to nine matches with victories over No. 27 South Carolina and No. 1 Georgia at the Headington Family Tennis Center.

Oklahoma opened the weekend with a 4-0 sweep of the Gamecocks, securing the doubles point before cruising through singles play. Wins from Salakthip Ounmuang, Julia Garcia Ruiz and Evialina Laskevich sealed the shutout, marking the Sooners' 11th sweep of the season.

OU followed with a signature 4-1 victory over top-ranked Georgia, earning its second win over a No. 1 team in program history. The Sooners once again set the tone in doubles before Gloriana Nahum, Edda Mamedova and Laskevich each recorded key singles wins, with Laskevich clinching the match at the No. 1 position.

The pair of victories pushed Oklahoma to 9-2 in SEC play and extended the team's winning streak to nine matches heading into another road weekend.

SOONERS IN THE RANKINGS

Oklahoma checks in at No. 8 in the latest ITA team rankings.

In singles, the freshman, Laskevich, leads the way at No. 10, followed by Mamedova at No. 45 and Garcia Ruiz at No. 60.

In doubles, the Sooners continue to feature one of the nation's top tandems, with Roisin Gilheany and Nahum holding the No. 1 ranking. Laskevich and Mamedova have climbed to No. 17, while Garcia Ruiz and Oyinlomo Quadre sit at No. 61.

PLAYER TO WATCH

Reigning SEC Player of the Week Evialina Laskevich continued her standout freshman campaign, leading Oklahoma to a pair of ranked wins over No. 27 South Carolina (4-0) and No. 1 Georgia (4-1). The Minsk, Belarus native went undefeated in both singles and doubles and clinched both matches in straight sets.

She opened the weekend with a 6-1, 6-4 win over No. 56 Kaitlyn Carnicella before delivering a 6-4, 6-2 victory over No. 28 Anastasiia Lopata to seal Oklahoma's statement win over top-ranked Georgia.

Laskevich also excelled in doubles alongside fellow freshman Edda Mamedova, earning a 6-1 win against South Carolina before defeating Georgia's No. 7-ranked duo, 6-2. Her all-around performance was instrumental in Oklahoma's undefeated weekend and has been a key factor in the Sooners' current winning streak.

UP NEXT

Oklahoma will close out the regular season next week at home, hosting Texas A&M on Thursday, April 9 at 5 p.m. before welcoming Texas for Senior Day on Saturday, April 11 at 12 p.m. at the Headington Family Tennis Center.
