NORMAN – The Oklahoma men's tennis team (10-4; 2-3) is set for a road match against No. 6 LSU (17-2; 4-1) on Friday, March 13, at 5:30 p.m. CT.

The competition will take place at the LSU Tennis Complex in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

MATCH DAY BASICS

Fans can follow the Sooners' match against the Tigers through live stream or live stats. Additional information about the match can be found here.

LAST TIME OUT

The Sooners fell short to Kentucky in a home match, 4-3. After winning the doubles point, OU's singles lineup was evenly matched with the Wildcats and the competition began to ramp up. Kentucky took the first two singles points to go ahead in the dual but a ranked win from sophomore Oscar Lacides tied the score at 2-all. Freshman Johan Rodrigez gave OU the 3-2 advantage after he topped No. 38 Jack Loutit on court four. Kentucky took another victory at the five position and the match on court six ultimately decided the match in favor of the Wildcats.

IN THE RANKINGS

Oklahoma checks in at the No. 28 spot in the March 10 ITA team rankings. The Sooners hold steady with five individual rankings.

Rodriguez and teammate Orel Kimhi remain in the doubles ranks as the No. 44 pair and senior duo Bruno Nhavene and Luis Alvarez sit at No. 53.

On the singles side, Alvarez leads the pack at the No. 45 spot, followed by Oscar Lacides at No. 108 and Asahi Harazaki at No. 109.

NOTES AND NUMBERS

Rodriguez claimed his second ranked result of the season against the Wildcats and No. 108 Lacides picked up his first ranked victory of the year. Alvarez leads the Sooners with a 9-2 singles record and has notched 114 total career wins.

Oklahoma has two top-20 triumphs this season and the doubles lineup has been consistent in putting OU on top early on. Two of Oklahoma's three doubles teams have won four straight matches with primary pair Alvarez and Bruno Nhavene combining with the secondary Hank Trondson and Alejandro Melero to clinch numerous doubles points.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT

LSU enters Friday's match as the No. 6 team in the nation. The Tigers are on an eight-match win streak and most recently topped No. 2 Texas in a 4-3 result, marking their sixth ranked win of the season.

LSU has two student-athletes ranked in the ITA singles rankings with Erik Arutiunian at No. 54 and Andrej Loncarevic at No. 117. On the doubles side, Arutiunian and Matias Ponce de Leon are No. 59 while Loncarevic and Sasa Markovic are No. 66.

In Oklahoma's last match against LSU, the Sooners came out on top in the 2025 home season finale, 4-1. The Sooner and Tiger men's tennis programs have only faced off twice and Oklahoma has taken the victory in both matchups.
