NORMAN — Oklahoma freshman
Evans Biwott was named SEC Freshman Runner of the Week, announced by the league Tuesday, following his performance at the Aggie Duels on Sept. 5.
In his second race of the season, Biwott finished first in the men's 8K with a time of 23:30.7. Biwott spearheaded a dominant Oklahoma performance, as all five OU scoring runners finished in the top 10, leading to a first-place finish for the team.
Biwott joined the Sooners for the track and field indoor and outdoor season in the spring of 2025, where he quickly made his mark on the program. The freshman holds the third-best time in school history in the men's outdoor 3,000m steeplechase (8:42.90), as well as the sixth fastest time for the outdoor 5,000m run (13:49.87), and fifth fastest time in the indoor 3,000m run (7:56.07).
Biwott's honor marks his first SEC weekly award, and the second week in a row that a Sooner has been awarded Men's SEC Freshman Runner of the Week.
