Men's Tennis Set for Two Ranked Matchups

NORMAN - The Oklahoma men's tennis team is slated to play two ranked conference matchups this week. The Sooners host No. 2 TCU on Thursday, March 28 at 5 p.m. before traveling to Orlando, Florida to take on No. 34 UCF on Saturday, March 30 at 5 p.m.
MATCHDAY BASICS
Matches for the 2024 men's tennis season are free of charge and open to the public. Due to the elimination of concessions, fans are encouraged to bring their own food and drinks. Free pizza and schedule posters will be provided along with a racquet giveaway for fans in attendance. The clear bag policy will be in place.Ā
Fans can follow Thursday's match through liveĀ stream or live stats and Saturday's match can be live streamed or tracked through live stats.Ā
LAST TIME OUT
The Sooners earned two wins last week to start conference play with a 2-0 record and improve their season record to 14-2.
To kick off league play, the Sooners swept Texas Tech on the road. Fifth-year seniors Alex Martinez and Baptiste Anselmo improved their record to 5-1 as a pair and freshman duo Hank Trondson and Asahi Harazaki extended their record to 6-0 on the season with two wins over the weekend.
Fifth-year senior and No. 20 Alex Martinez took another ranked win over Texas Tech's No. 56 Olle Wallin in straight sets, marking his fifth win over a ranked opponent.
The Sooners traveled to Provo, Utah to face the BYU Cougars and came away with another win from the road trip.
The doubles point went to the Sooners following wins at the one and three lines.
Freshman and No. 107 Kholo Montsi extended his win streak to eight matches after picking up a win to put the Sooners back in the lead following a loss for Jordan Hasson at the three position.
Sophomore Luis Alvarez extended the lead for the Sooners after taking a straight-set win on court four. No. 20 Martinez clinched the match for Oklahoma over BYU's Jack Barnett.
SCOUTING THE HORNED FROGS
The TCU Horned Frogs are the No. 3 ranked team in the nation with a 15-2 record on the season and a 2-0 record in conference play.
TCU currently has five players ranked inside the top 75 ITA rankings. Jake Fearnly holds the No. 6 position, Jack Pinnington sits at No. 8, Pedro Vives is No. 57, and Sebastian Gorzny and Lui Maxted sit back-to-back at No. 71 and No. 72.
The Horned Frogs are present in the ITA doubles rankings as well, with Gorzny and Vives holding the No. 2 spot and Maxted and Duncan Chan at No. 51.Ā
TRACKING THE KNIGHTS
UCF sits at the No. 29 position as a team and has a 15-2 record on the season and a 1-1 conference record.
The Knights do not have any players ranked in ITA singles or doubles rankings.
