OU Set for Kansas State, Bedlam

NORMANĀ - The No. 20Ā Oklahoma women's tennis teamĀ is slated to hostĀ two conference matches at the Headington Family Tennis Center this weekend, beginning with Kansas StateĀ on FridayĀ before returning to host No. 1 Oklahoma State in a Bedlam dualĀ onĀ Sunday.
MATCHDAY BASICSĀ

The No. 21Ā Oklahoma women's tennis team picked up their secondĀ win of the weekendĀ on SundayĀ evening, shutting outĀ Houston, 4-0,Ā at the Barbara Wallace Winston Tennis Facility.
Oklahoma endured two lengthy rain delays beforeĀ securingĀ their fourthĀ straight victory. Against the Cougars, the Sooners won the doubles point for the seventhĀ straight matchĀ to take the early 1-0 lead.
OU's No. 22 doubles pairing ofĀ Roisin GilheanyĀ andĀ Dana GuzmanĀ opened play on the top court, defeatingĀ Sophie Schouten and Sonya Kovalenk, 6-4. Following closely behind, Chloe Noel andĀ Ava CatanzariteĀ clinched the doubles point for OU with their 6-4Ā win over Gabriela Cortes and Elena TrenchevaĀ of HoustonĀ at the No. 3Ā position toĀ remain perfect as a duo on the season (5-0).Ā
When play was halted on court three,Ā No. 63Ā Julia Garcia RuizĀ andĀ Zdena SafarovaĀ leadĀ Houston'sĀ Laura Slisane and Maria Dzemeshkevich, 6-5.Ā
No. 33 Garcia Ruiz won OU's first singlesĀ point on the second court after not dropping a set to Houston's Schouten, 6-1, 6-1. The sophomore from Mexico improved her season singles dual record to 11-0.Ā
Noel extended the Sooner leadĀ byĀ defeating Cortes,Ā 6-0, 6-3 on the fourth court.Ā
To clinch the match and complete the shutout for Oklahoma, CatanzariteĀ delivered a 6-4, 6-1 win over Nina SkoricĀ on court five.Ā

The Sooners (9-4, 4-1 Big 12) currently have fiveĀ players in the ITA singles rankings. Leading the pack is No. 34 Dana Guzman, followed by No. 39 Julia Garcia Ruiz, No. 50Ā Florencia Urrutia,Ā No. 95Ā Alina ShcherbininaĀ and No.123 Ava Catanzarite.
