NORMAN - The No. 16 Oklahoma women's tennis team swept No. 23 UCF, 4-0, Saturday in its first match of the ITA Kickoff Weekend to advance to the championship.

The Sooners will face No. 19 California on Sunday at 2 p.m. CT, with the victor qualifying for the ITA National Indoor Championships in Seattle, Wash., Feb. 9-12.

The Sooners kicked off the match in doubles against the Knights. Finishing first, Chloé Noël and Julia Garcia Ruiz beat out Olivi Lincer and Jantje Tibuerger 6-4 on court three. Following right behind, the No. 2 doubles pair of Dana Guzman and Alina Shcherbinina defeated Noel Saidenova and Anique Kattenberg at the top court with the 6-4 win to clinch the doubles point for OU.

When play was halted, Romana Cisovska and Roisin Gilheany trailed 4-5 behind UCF's Sophia Biolay and Jaleesa Leslie.

Going into singles with the 1-0 advantage, Noël met Leslie and delivered a quick 6-2, 6-1 win for the Sooners to extend their lead. No. 37 Guzman joined Noël in the win column at the No. 2 spot to defeat Biolay 6-1, 6-1.

To clinch the match for the Sooners, No. 112 Ava Catanzarite delivered in her match to take the 7-5, 6-1 victory over Kattenburg.

When play was halted, No. 72 Shcherbinina was up 7-6 (5), 1-2 over Lincer on the top court, No. 16 Florencia Urrutia led Jantje Tibuerger 6-4, 2-2 at the No. 3 spot and Garcia Ruiz trailed Noel Saidenova 4-6, 3-3 on court four.
