Fayetteville, Ark. – The University of Oklahoma track and field team closed out two-day Razorback Invitational Saturday night at the Randal Tyson Track Center in Fayetteville, Ark.
Sophomore
BJ Green earned an individual title in the men's triple jump, 17 Sooners secured new personal records and five athletes earned spots on Oklahoma's all-time record list in their respective event.
"We saw some things I didn't quite expect, and it leads me to believe even bigger things are coming," stated assistant coach, vertical jumps and combined events, Jerel Langley. "I'm excited about the work we get to put in on both the accomplishments and mistakes we made this weekend."
2023 national champion
Pippi Lotta Enok made her season debut Friday night where she earned second place in the pentathlon with 4,281 points. Enok earned her highest score of the day in the long jump, setting a new personal best with a mark of 6.30 (20-8). Junior
Angel Richmore took eighth with 4,013 points, highlighted by a personal-record time in the 60mH (8.87). Sophomore
Ally Stephenson registered 3,512 points. She earned two new personal records, 8.87 in the 60mH and 1.63 (5-4.25) in the high jump.
"For the first combined event of the season, knowing where we want to be this summer, I think this weekend was a good step toward that," added Langley.
Junior
Kassidy Gallagher earned Oklahoma's best mark in the women's weight throw, tossing to 20.42 (67-0). Freshman
Kennedy Clarke had a career day where she grabbed back-to-back-to-back PRs, landing on 20.00 (65-7.50), the No. 5 throw in OU's all-time performance list.
Junior
Nikaoli Williams earned second place in the men's long jump with a 7.84 (25-8.75) leap.
Anthony Riley jumped for 7.31 (23-11.75).
Cassidy Bradshaw vaulted for 3.83 (12-6.75).
Jasmine Akins and
Victory George registered 5.75 (18-10.50) and 5.51 (18-1) in the women's long jump.
In the men's 3000m,
Colin Caso recorded an 8:33.53 time.
Men's weight thrower
Bayley Campbell earned fourth place with a PR 20.67 (67-9.75) score.
Ben Ryer registered 18.78 (61-7.50).
Four Sooners on the women's squad competed in the 200-meter dash. Freshman
Nia Parks secured the best finish for OU at 35th place with a PR 24.45 time. Junior
Jada Atkinson finished shortly after in 36th with a PB 24.47. Sophomore
Alyia Green registered 24.78 and Freshman
Emmanuella Njenje recorded 25.14.
The men's 200m closed out day one of competition where Senior
Zarik Brown earned 14th and a 21.43 time.
Jaylen Barringer earned a personal-best 21.56 time.
Day two opened with the women's 60-meter dash qualifying round where graduate
Alexis Williams earned the Sooner's best finish at 7.44. Junior
Nebtom N'Da clocked a new personal record with a 7.55 time. Williams and N'Da advanced to the preliminary round. Freshman
Jordyn Price recorded 7.74 and junior
Victory George registered 7.81.
Sophomore
Eva Kubickova ran for 8.69 in the women's 60-meter hurdles prelims and freshman
Cameron Jackson earned an 8.43 time in the men's 60-meter hurdles prelims.
In the men's mile invitational, graduate
Nicholas Young grabbed a new PR with a 4:03.07 time that earns him the No. 10 spot on Oklahoma's all-time list.
Williams and N'Da's day came to a close in the women's 60m prelims. Williams registered a 7.44 time and N'Da recorded 7.61.
Junior
Paige Low earned Oklahoma's best finish in the women's shot put with a 15.71 (51-6.50) throw. Freshman Tuané Silver recorded 14.00 (45-11.35) and
Kennedy Clarke registered 13.69 (44-11).
In the women's 400-meter dash, junior
Jayda Gibson grabbed a new personal record with a 54.56 time. Freshman
Sidney Kinnison also earned a new personal best with a 56.68 time.
Jenna James (57.02),
Kyla Lewis (56.75) and Emmanuelle Njenje (56.00) all ran in the 400m.
In the men's 400m,
Zarik Brown earned the Sooner's best finish at 46.87 for eighth place.
Richard Johnson finished in 10th place with a 46.97 time.
Jaylen Barringer grabbed 47.85 and
Gage Hensey recorded 48.97.
Senior
Jasmine Akins inched toward replacing her all-time record with a 12.29 (40-4) leap in the women's triple jump.
For the first time this season,
Kailynn Jackson and
Kel McDavid raced in the 800m, both earning new personal records. Jackson ran for 2:15.18 and McDavid registered 2:17.00.
Men's throwers
Bryant Parlin and
Diego Trevino grabbed top-ten finishes in the shot put. Trevino took fifth place with 19.10 (62-8) and Parlin recorded a 17.12 (56-2) mark.
Sophomore
BJ Green highlighted the Sooner's evening with a title in the men's triple jump. After three PRs in a row, his fifth attempt measured in at 16.62 (54-6.50), a massive leap from the previous personal record he set last week at the Corky Classic. This jump launches him from the No. 6 spot in OU's all-time performance list to No. 2. Green's mark now accounts for the No. 2 triple jump in the NCAA so far this season.
"I am thrilled with BJ's performance today. He did a better job of creating leverage and attacking the ground today," said assistant coach, horizontal jumps, Austin Davis. "He's worked very hard this year and it's rewarding to see him enjoying the fruits of his labor."
Sophomore
Floyd Whitaker also registered 14.84 (48-8.25) in the men's triple jump.
Senior
Fernando Morales earned OU's best finish in the men's 800m with a 1:52.47 time. Freshman
Carlos Tello ran for 1:53.78 and sophomore
Logan Seger grabbed a new personal record with a 1:54.88 time.
To close out distance races, junior
Gabi Barrera earned a new personal record with a 9:44.51 time. Sophomore
Erin O'Brien grabbed a 10:12.08 time.
Women's 4x400 relay consisting of
Jayda Gibson,
Jada Atkinson,
Nia Parks and
Alexis Williams recorded a season-best time of 3:38.88 to close out the Razorback Invitational.
