Sooners Power Over Mountaineers

NORMAN - The No. 23 Oklahoma women's tennis team claimed its fourth conference win with a 6-1 victory over West Virginia on Friday night.
The Sooners secured their 18th doubles point of the season on court one and three. At the top court, No. 16 Carmen and Ivana Corley took down Momoko Nagato and Michaela Kucharova, 6-1. Julia Garcia Ruiz and Dana Guzman clinched the opening point with a 6-3 win over Tatiana Lipatova and Maja Dodik at the No. 3 spot.
No. 17 Alexandra Pisareva and Layne Sleeth were down 3-4 to Camilla Bossi and Ting-Pei Chang on court two.
Singles opened with a quick 6-0, 6-2 victory at the top court from Sleeth against Bossi. No. 106 Carmen Corley took down Chang on court three, 6-1, 6-3. No. 64 Guzman secured the OU victory on court two with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Kucharova.
The match played on and Garcia Ruiz extended the lead to 4-0 after defeating Lipatova 6-0, 7-5 on court six. Pisareva claimed the last OU court at the No. 4 spot with a 6-4, 6-1 win against Dodik.
West Virginia got on the board on court five with Momoko Nagato defeating Emma Staker 4-6, 6-3, 1-0 [11-9].

The Sooners will remain home to take on No. 10 Iowa State on Sunday, April 2 at 11 a.m. CT at the Headington Family Tennis Center.
