NORMAN - The No. 23 Oklahoma women's tennis team defeated Iowa State 4-1 on Sunday afternoon to claim its fifth conference win.
The Sooners claimed their 20th doubles point of the season over the Cyclones. Julia Garcia Ruiz and Dana Guzman took court three, 7-5, over Miska Kadleckova and Sofia Cabezas. Iowa State answered with a 6-4 win at the No. 2 spot from Ange Oby Kajuru and Xinyi Nong against No. 17 Alexandra Pisareva and Layne Sleeth. To secure the opening point, No. 16 Carmen and Ivana Corley took down No. 52 Thasaporn Naklo and Anna Supapitch Kuearum 7-5 at the top court.
Singles opened with a quick 6-0, 6-1 win on court three from No. 106 Carmen Corley over No. 96 Kadleckova. Garcia Ruiz followed it up with a win 6-2, 6-4 win at the No. 6 spot against Chie Kezuka to extend the lead to 3-0. The Cyclones got on the board by a court-five win from Sofia Cabezas over Emma Staker, 6-3, 6-4.
To clinch the match, Pisareva went to a third set with Superpitch Kuearum to take court four 7-6 (3), 3-6, 6-4 and claim the Sooners' fifth conference win.
When play was halted, Sleeth was up on No. 51 Naklo 7-5, 5-7, 2-0 at the top court and No. 64 Guzman was down 6-3, 3-6, 4-5 to No. 53 Kajuru on court two.

The Sooners will host an in-state rivalry with Oklahoma State for their last home match of the season on Friday, April 7 at 5 p.m. CT.
