SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The No. 21 Oklahoma women's tennis team fell 4-1 to San Diego on Saturday evening at the Hogan Tennis Center.
The Sooners dominated in doubles to open the match. No. 16 Carmen and Ivana Corley claimed a ranked win over No. 12 Kailey Evans and Elizabeth Goldsmith at the top court, 6-1. Julia Garcia Ruiz and Dana Guzman clinched the doubles point with Solymar Colling and Filippa Bruu-Syversen on court three, 6-2.
When play was halted, No. 17 Alexandra Pisareva and Layne Sleeth were tied 3-3 with Claudia De Las Heras and Jordyn McBride at the No. 2 spot.
The Toreros claimed four straight courts in singles. No. 86 Abigail Desiatnikov defeated Pisareva 6-1, 6-1 on court four.
Claudia De Las Heras then went and took court two over No. 106 Carmen Corley 6-1, 7-5 to take the lead. Jordyn McBride claimed the No. 6 court over Garcia Ruiz 6-3, 7-6.
To clinch the match, Elizabeth Goldsmith took the 6-4, 2-6, 6-3 win against No. 64 Guzman on court three.
UP NEXT
The Sooners will return home to continue Big 12 play with West Virginia on Friday, March 31 at 5 p.m. CT and Iowa State on Sunday, April 2 at noon CT at the Headington Family Tennis Center.
