OU T&F Finish Day Two in Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The University of Oklahoma track and field team concluded its time at the New Mexico Collegiate Classic in Albuquerque, N.M., Feb 3-4.  

"Our Sooners did not disappoint in an electric competition atmosphere," said head coach Tim Langford. "There were NCAA caliber performances in every area. It's a step in the right direction towards building a program that can represent well at the conference and national championships." 

Junior Joey Zayszly finished third in the heptathlon with a personal best of 5,155 points. He collected PRs in the 60-meters (7.04), long jump (6.42), 60-meter hurdles (8.09) and the 1,000-meters (2:49.62). His performance places him seventh on the OU All-Time Performance List.  

Next, senior Kennedy Blackmon ran a stand-out time in the women's 60-meter qualifying section at 7.35, a personal best.  

In the 400-meter dash, Ashonti Warner crossed the finish line at 53.76 and secured the seventh fastest time in OU history.  

Sophomore Paige Low threw for a massive personal best of 54-6.75 (16.63m) in the women's shot put for fifth place. She was followed by Payden Montana (16.45m) and Abby Moore (16.09m) in sixth and seventh place, respectively.  

The women's triple jump saw Agur Dwol claim fourth place after clearing 42-2 (12.85m). On the men's side, Brandon Green Jr. jumped for 49-7.25 (15.12m) for 10th place.  

Fernando Morales ran a time of 1:51.59 in the men's 800-meter and took home fourth place, while freshman Kailynn Jackson grabbed a personal-best at 2:18.90 on the women's side.  

The men's 4x400 relay squad ran a season best time of 3:05.66 to secure fourth place and record the fifth fastest time in OU history.  

To close the meet out for the Sooners, Diego Trevino took home fifth place in the men's shot put after throwing 63-3 (19.28m). He was followed by Tucker Smith (18.20m) and Bryant Parlin (17.36m) in seventh and 10th place, respectively.  

"I'm looking forward to finishing the job of making OU a strong presence at the indoor nation championship," said Langford.  

UP NEXT 

The Sooners will compete at the Wisconsin Windy City Invitational in Chicago, Ill., Feb. 10-11.
