Sooners Split Competition in Illinois and South Carolina

NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma track and field team travels to Chicago, Ill., for the Wisconsin Windy City Invitational, Feb 10-11. In addition, a limited squad heads to Clemson S.C., for the Tiger Paw Invitational, Feb. 10-11.Ā 

In Chicago, the meet is slated to begin with field events at 2 p.m. CT on Friday with running events starting at 3:35 p.m. CT. On Saturday, all events will start at 12:40 p.m. CT. Live stream will be available on Saturday and live results can be found here. Ā 

At Clemson, the Sooners will compete on Friday in theĀ men's 400m dash at 4:20 p.m. CT, while the men's 4x400 relay squad starts at 3:45 p.m. CT on Saturday. The Tiger Paw Invitational will be streamed live on ACCNX, while live stats are provided by Athletic Live.Ā 

IN THE RANKINGSĀ 

In this week's USTFCCCA rankings, the men's team sit atĀ 18th in the nation after an impressive showing in New Mexico. The women's squad sits atop the Midwest Regional rankings in fourth. Ā 

NEW MEXICO REWINDĀ 

Last weekend, the Sooners competed at the New Mexico Collegiate Classic in Albuquerque, N.M. Ā 

Vernon Turner collected a season-best victory for the Sooners in the men's high jump after clearing 7-3 (2.21m).Ā 

To close out Friday's competition, Muzuri Mattar took home a victory in the men's 400-meter dash with a time of 45.89. He was followed by Zarik Brown (46.12) and Richard Kuykendoll (45.31) in second and fourth place spots, respectively.Ā 

On Saturday, junior Joey Zayszly finished third in the heptathlon with a personal best of 5,155 points. He collected four PRs, and his performance placed him seventh on the OU All-Time Performance List. Ā 

Kennedy Blackmon ran a stand-out time in the women's 60-meter qualifying section at 7.35, a personal best. Ā 

In the 400-meter dash, Ashonti Warner crossed the finish line at 53.76 and secured the seventh fastest time in OU history. Ā 

Sophomore Paige Low threw for a massive personal best of 54-6.75 (16.63m) in the women's shot put for fifth place. Ā 

The men's 4x400 relay squad ran a season best time of 3:05.66 to secure fourth place and record the fifth fastest time in OU history. Ā 

To close the meet out for the Sooners, Diego Trevino took home fifth place in the men's shot put after throwing 63-3 (19.28m).Ā
