NORMAN - The Oklahoma men's tennis team defeated Drake 6-1 on Friday at the Headington Family Tennis Center.

To start the match, Jordan Hasson and Nathan Han grabbed the 6-4 win on court two over Evan Fragistas and Jeremy Schifris. Coming back from a 5-2 deficit, Baptiste Anselmo and Justin Schlageter took the court-three win against Markus Bolin and Olle Sonesson Lidhol, 6-4, to clinch the opening point.

"I want to give a shoutout to Baptiste and Justin for coming back after being a break down and clinching the doubles point," said OU head coach Nick Crowell.

When play was halted, Alex Martinez and Siphos Montsi were down 6-5 vs. Matija Matic and Oliver Johansson.

Singles play kicked off with a court-five win from Schlageter over Reid Jarvis, taking the match 6-1, 6-3. Drake answered with a win at the No. 4 spot from Evan Fragistas over Montsi, 6-0, 6-3.

OU then went on to claim the remaining courts. At the top court, Martinez collected a ranked win over No. 59 Jeremy Schifris, taking the 6-3, 6-2 win. Han followed right behind to clinch the OU victory at the No. 3 spot over Oliver Johansson, 6-4, 6-3. To add points to the board, Hasson defeated Matija Matic 7-6 (3), 6-1 at the No. 2 spot.

The Sooners closed the match with a court-six win from Luis Alvarez over Markus Bolin, 6-2, 6-4.

"The guys came out really sharp, especially in singles. I thought our guys improved from Tennessee and played a better match. We closed out all our second sets and that's how you want to close out matches," said Crowell.
