NORMAN  —  The No. 2 Oklahoma women's tennis team advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament after sweeping the Bryant Bulldogs 4-0, Friday afternoon.

"Our confidence was the biggest thing that stood out," said head coach Audra Cohen. "Our energy is something we always talk about, and I think we had that on every court today."

The Sooners claimed the opening point in a quick fashion. Alexandra Pisareva and Layne Sleeth took the first doubles win on court two, shutting out Manuela Estrada and Camila Baeza 6-0. To clinch, Dana Guzman and Emma Staker met Olivia Rondini and Caitlyn Munson at the No. 3 spot and took the 6-1 court win.

When play was halted, Ivana and Carmen Corley were up 5-2 at the top court against Leanne Kendall and Sarah Hickey.

In singles, Staker claimed the first win for the Sooners. The freshman defeated Estrada 6-1, 6-0, on court six. Pisareva extended the lead to 3-0 after taking down Rondini 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 5 spot.

No. 10 Sleeth clinched the match for OU after shutting out Hickey 6-0, 6-0 at the top court.

"I think it was good to get a win under our belt in the NCAA," said Cohen. "For us to come out and take care of business quickly and be very confident the whole way through made me really happy."

When play was halted, No. 52 Carmen Corley was up 5-4 on court two against Leanne Kendall. On court three, No. 97 Ivana Corley led Munson 6-0, 5-1. Sophomore Guzman held a 6-0, 3-0 lead over Baeza at the No. 4 spot.

"I think we have to compete extremely well tomorrow," said Cohen. "Arizona State is a battle-tested team and they're good from top to bottom, so it's going to be an incredible challenge. This is probably one of the toughest regionals in the nation right now and a lot of eyeballs are on us because of the talent that's here. We're taking it as a huge opportunity because we want it to be tough and want that challenge."
