OU WTN Dominates No. 22 Baylor

NORMAN — The No. 3 Oklahoma women's tennis team defeated the No. 22 Baylor Bears, 6-1, at the Headington Family Tennis Center, continuing their undefeated conference record and undefeated home streak.

Starting off in doubles, Anchisa Chanta and Dana Guzman collected a 6-0 court three win in dominate fashion. The No. 4 Corley Sisters put up hard-fought battle against No. 5 duo Mel Krywok and Alicia Herrero but fell 5-7 at the top court.

Layne Sleeth and Alexandra Pisareva, ranked No. 50, clinched the doubles point, 7-6 (8) at the No. 2 spot against AC Zamburek and Anita Sahdiieva.

Going into singles, No. 43 Carmen Corley defeated Alicia Herrero 6-4, 6-2 on court two, while No. 19 Layne Sleeth followed right behind with a 6-4, 6-3 victory at the top court over No. 109 Isabella Harvison.

The Bears put a tally on the board after Mel Krywoj defeated OU's Ivana Corley, ranked No. 56, on court three, 2-6, 6-4, 6-4.

To clinch, freshman Anchisa Chanta secured the victory over No. 116 Alina Shcherbinina with a 4-6, 6-4, 6-1 win on court four. The Big 12 foes continued to play out, leading to a 3-6, 6-0, 7-5 win for senior Alexandra Pisareva against Anita Sahdiieva. Freshman Emma Staker sealed off the match for the Sooners with a 6-3, 6-7 (7-3), 7-6 (7-3) win over Paula Baranano on court six.
