MTN Set to Host Top-20 Matchups

NORMAN — The No. 20 Oklahoma men's tennis team will close its February homestand this weekend with a pair of top-20 matchups vs. No. 18 Texas A&M and No. 4 Baylor at the Headington Family Tennis Center.
The 20th-ranked Sooners (10-1) will open competition against the Aggies (6-3) on Friday at 6 p.m. CT, before hosting the Bears (13-1) at 1 p.m. CT Sunday.
MATCHDAY BASICS
The Sooners' 2022 matches at the Headington Family Tennis Center will be open to the public and free of charge. Due to the elimination of concessions at the Headington Family Tennis Center, fans are encouraged to bring in their own food and drinks. OU implemented a clear bag policy.
Free pizza will be provided to the first 200 fans at the Texas A&M match and the first 50 fans at the Baylor match. Free Oklahoma tennis T-shirts will be available to the first 50 fans at Sunday's match. Through the month of February, the Oklahoma tennis teams will recognize Black History Month at all of their matches. In between doubles and singles play, fans will the opportunity to participate in a game and win a free OU tennis apparel pack courtesy of Oklahoma men's tennis.
Fans can keep up with the live stats for the matches or watch on Playsight. The two matches will be broadcasted on Bally Sports OK Plus.
LAST TIME OUT
The then-No. 19 Sooners tallied a 6-1 win over Alabama and swept Drake at the Headington Family Tennis Center on Feb. 11 and 12.
In its match vs. the Crimson Tide, the Sooners opened the match by winning the doubles point behind victories on courts on and three. Pair Alex Martinez and Welsh Hotard extended their doubles success, securing their first ranked win of the season by knocking off No. 49 Filip Planinsek and German Samofalov 6-3 on court one. Mason Beiler and Nathan Han clinched the doubles point for OU with a 6-4 win over Rudi Christiansen and Juan Martin on court three.
When play was halted, Baptiste Anselmo and Mark Mandlik were up 5-4 at the two spot against Enzo Aguiard and Joao Ferreira.
In singles play, No. 83 Jordan Hasson claimed the first singles win of the night, tallying a 6-3, 6-1 win over Zach Foster. No. 54 Mandlik continued the momentum, notching a win over Juan Martin 6-1, 6-4 on court four. On court six, Han clinched the match against Ferreira with a 6-4, 6-3 victory.
Action played out on the remaining courts. Anselmo added to the Sooners' score with a 7-5, 6-2 win against Samofalov at the third spot. The Crimson Tide got on the board following a hard-fought battle against No. 53 Martinez and Aguiard at the No. 2 line (6-2, 7-6 (5)). At the top spot, No. 45 Beiler earned his first ranked win on the season, defeating No. 41 Planinsek 3-6, 6-3, 6-4.
