NORMAN – The Oklahoma track and field team opens their 2022-23 indoor season slate on Saturday, Dec. 10, at the Kansas State Winter Invitational in Manhattan, Kan.
The meet is scheduled to begin with field events at 9:30 a.m. CT followed by track events at 12 p.m. CT. A total of 38 Sooners are competing in the season opener.
"It's been a great fall and many of our students are ready for a little action," said head coach Tim Langford. "We have seniors that are saddled up for their last ride, emerging star underclassmen that will pick up right where they left off last year, and newcomers looking to get their feet wet."
The Sooners return to K-State after an impressive finish at last year's meet. OU captured seven victories, and a broken school and meet record. Senior Richard Kuykendoll broke an indoor school record in the 300-meter dash, while junior Kunle Akinlosotu took home first in the men's triple jump.
"Overall, I'm optimistic about the upcoming season and look forward to what the team brings to the table," said Langford. "We will not take everyone this weekend, but those whom we compete with will show us exactly what we need to see."
Live results from the K-State Winter Invitational will be available through Miles Split.
