Sooners Sweep Cyclones

NORMAN – The No. 25 Oklahoma women's tennis team blew past No. 31 Iowa State 4-0 Friday at the Headington Family Tennis Center.
With the victory, the Sooners improve to 12-5 on the season and 3-3 against the Big 12. OU won the doubles point handily, then reeled off singles wins on courts two, four and six to put away the Cyclones.
In doubles, No. 11 Carmen and Ivana Corley defeated Cyclones Miska Kadleckova and Thasaporn Naklo 6-3 to get things started for the Sooners. Martina Capurro and Camila Romero sealed the opening point with a 6-1 rout of Ting-Pei Chang and Christin Hsieh on court two.
When play was abandoned, the Sooners' Kianah Motosono and Dana Guzman were tied at 3-all with Sofia Cabezas and Maty Cancini on court three.
Junior and ITA No. 109 Marcelina Podlinska struck first in singles, routing Cabezas 6-2, 6-2 on court six. No. 80 Guzman earned her fifth straight victory as she powered past Cancini 6-3, 6-0 at the No. 2 line.
Senior Capurro clinched the victory for the Sooners on court four where she put away Hsieh, 6-0, 7-5.
When the match was ended, No. 97 Carmen Corley trailed ISU's Naklo 3-1 in the second set. Naklo took set one 7-6 (5). No. 91 Ivana Corley was up 5-4 in the second set with Kadleckova at the No.
5 line after dropping set one 7-5.
Motosono was a game away from defeating Kezuka, leading 6-2, 5-4 on court five.
