Sooners Win Fourth Straight

LAWRENCE, Kan. – The No. 24 Oklahoma women's tennis team opened the weekend with a dominant, 6-1 victory over No. 49 Kansas Friday in Lawrence.
The win was good for a season sweep of the Jayhawks after the teams previously met in Norman on Feb. 21, and OU's fourth consecutive victory. The Sooners improve to 13-5 overall and 4-3 against the Big 12.
Camila Romero and Martina Capurro fell to Kansas' Malkia Ngounoue and Julia Deming 6-1 on court two, leaving the point to be decided at the No. 3 line. There, Dana Guzman and Kianah Motosono held on for a 6-4 win over Carmen Roxana Manu and Tiffany Legarde to secure the point for OU.
No. 79 Ivana Corley was the first Sooner off the court in singles as she ran past Manu 6-1, 6-1 on court three. No. 73 Carmen Corley was
next, routing Smagina 6-2, 6-1.
Marcelina Podlinska secured the win for the Sooners with a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Deming at the No. 6 line. Podlinska trailed 3-1 early in the second set before tying the frame at 4-all and winning the next two games to take the match.
Capurro added another win as she defeated Karvouni 6-2, 7-5 on court four.
Guzman earned her third ranked victory of the year as she held strong to defeat No. 101 Ngounoue 7-5, 7-6 (3) at the No. 2 line.
On court five, Motosono fell to Tiffany Legarde after a battle, 2-6, 6-3, 1-0 [10].
